How to Complete a CURF Loan Application

Glossary

Churches and other Seventh-day Adventist affiliated entities within the Columbia Union territory that take loans from CURF to help finance construction, acquisition, renovation, and other capital improvement projects.

An approval document that confirms that your local conference has reviewed the loan application and the necessary governing body voted the loan amount and term amount. Every Loan Application must be accompanied by a Conference Approval Sheet when submitted to CURF.

A detailed schedule for a construction project that explains when loan funds will be disbursed to the Borrower. Every loan application must be accompanied by a proposed Draw Schedule.

A formal assurance or promise made by a related party that a loan will be repaid. Substantially all of our loans to non-conference entities are guaranteed by the respective conference.

An individual or organization holding a promissory note payable on 90-day demand issued by CURF.

A legal document used to offer and sell securities, such as CURF’s Notes, which describes in detail the terms and conditions of the offer, the issuer (CURF) and its financials, operations and history, how the funds raised by the offering will be spent, and other information that an investor may consider material in deciding to invest in the securities being offered.

An agreement obligating the issuer to pay a stated sum to the holder of the promissory note at a specified date or on demand. We use the term “Note” to refer to the promissory notes that we sell, which are payable within 90 days of your written demand for payment.

Individuals who are residents of the Columbia Union territory (Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia) and hold membership in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and entities affiliated with the denomination located in the Columbia Union territory.

A document sent to Noteholders every quarter and Borrowers every month that depicts their account activity, such as account balance, interest accrued, investments, payments, and withdrawals.

The purchase agreement that a prospective investor submits to CURF, which, once accepted, binds CURF to sell the stated amount of Notes to the prospective investor at the face value stated therein and binds the prospective investor to pay the stated price to CURF in exchange for the Notes. In order to become a Noteholder, a prospective investor must review, complete and execute a Subscription Agreement and then submit it to CURF with payment for the Notes to be purchased.
